Thoughts: Poetry Life

As a self-published poet, I have often been on the cusp of driving deeper into poetic waters. But I still have to balance that with being a creative and a writer. How can I express myself without offending people? What viewpoint best suits my aspirations? I have recently come to the realization that though I have attempted to be a poetry purest these are complicated waters to navigate. Ultimately, I have found that writing and speaking my truth is the bedrock of my soul. But that’s enough of my poetry rant…

To Write

I will write until my heart is content

The steady taping on the keyboard

Will be my song

The words on the screen will be my entertainment

The creases appearing in the corner of my mouth at a witty pun

Will decorate my world with inspiration

The stanzas will run together

Like prayer and hope running over

In the midst of a winter’s storm

My heart will move in and out of open lines

My voice can be heard in-between the spaces

The beginning of sentences will be the start of new exploration

Love always, Ayesha
