Long Overdue

I’m sorry is just a phrase until you put the words into action. Oftentimes, I have looked for changed behavior in others but neglected it’s utility in myself. I found it easier to point my finger at those that hurt me and see myself as the injured party. But when it came to addressing my own shortcomings… I ran from the mirror. I hide my face from my mistakes. I chalked it up to that’s life and moved on. Little did I recognize that ignoring my character flaws has been my greatest issue. But now is the time to let the light shine on the dark corners of my heart: the hatred, the hurt, the emptiness, lack of self worth, the jealousy, the distress, the anger and instability. It is time for a change. Today is the day, I clean out the cobwebs. The issues that kept me tangled up in my old ways. The lack of spiritual growth and denial. Today is the start of something new. Let the sunrise appear on the horizon. So that all may see the dawn of a morning long overdue.

Love always, Ayesha
