Pools

Can I love you with my eyes closed?

Just ease into the comfort of your embrace

As I imagine you staring at the contours of my face

Feeling every second as though it were my last

Thinking nothing of the future

And neglecting the mistakes of the past

Falling in love with the thought of loving you more

Wondering what two people so enamored with each other even argued for?

It’s the bridge of your nose that does it for me

The way it rises and falls when you tilt your head

The shape of your almond eyes

The length of your legs

The connection I feel to the palm of your hands

When they grip mine

Even when I don’t speak to you

I think about all the time

Can I love you with my eyes closed?

Just ease into the comfort of your embrace

As I imagine you staring at the contours of my face

Feeling every second as though it were my last

And even when were not together

I close my eyes and I think about how I love you still

Always have and always will

Our love is like ice that freezes in winter

And thaws in spring

You’d be surprised by the change a season can bring

I will wait for you at the door of summer

When our love has turned into a vibrant lake

So I can swim in the pools of your eyes once more

Love always, Esha <3
