Passing On To Glory
All I hear is condolences
Rolling off grief stricken tongues
They hit me
Like hard pebbles meant for skipping
They tell the tale of a daughter
Who lost her father last week
Kind faces filled with sympathy towards me
Are hurtful and bring no relief
But through sorrow we heal together
I pray for understanding to grow
Into someone better…
Into a person my late father would recognize
And come to know
But I will wait patiently until we meet again
He was a trusted confidant and loyal friend
God let me borrow you for a moment in time
And I twinkled in your eye
A Daddy’s girl through and through
You had me and I had you
There was no separation
No wondering where you were
You were beside my Mother
You were doing OT at work
You were at the gas station
Buying donuts, conversing with the clerk
You were a man worth your salt
Your courage couldn’t be sold
Your character couldn’t be brought
You stood like a mountain
You weren’t moved by the winds of change
You weren’t shaken by the whispering breeze
With feet that moved with grace
A face that grinned with ease
You did as you wanted
And spoke as you pleased
A Daddy’s girl through and through
You had me and I had you
There was no separation
No wondering where you were
But now I feel comfort in knowing
That you passed on to glory
Love always, Esha ❤
