A Time For Butterflies

A Time For Butterflies

You stand before a full audience

In limbo

They want to clap

But need a reason for applause

You grin nervously

As monarchs flutter around

In your stomach seeking acceptance

They pulsate when you grin

When you’re nervous they spin

And fly in unison

Continuously looking for a way to break free

Praying for a safe place to be

But it’s now or never

Truth or dare

To push against the sway of anonymity

Leading to a staircase going nowhere

Let your voice ring out in the solemn air

A supernatural component lies in the pupil of your stare

The swelling of butterflies

Makes you blissfully astute but artistically unaware

Open to the possibilities but shut off to care

As you express sentiments that leave a covered soul bare

Love always, Esha <3
