free love

how much for a smile?

don’t charge me for a laugh

clasp my hand tight

hold my heart for a little while

lock in step

but is any of it free?

you act like you in love

but baby you don’t even like me

we go on a date the vendors charge fees

i don’t want sex

only the love of Jesus is free

but by the end of the night

there is no more grinning teeth

because i’m searching for something that can last forever

but you want something easy

i wanna feel like we belong together

but your rhythm moves to please me

you my only fan while the sun is shinning

we living in a fantasy

coasting off far off islands

i’m a bad chick and he want me beside him

we shallow like blowup pools in 90 degree heat

lock in step

but is any of it free?

you act like you in love

but baby you don’t even like me

we bed fellows

but we sleep alone

sitting in a room across from each other

but nobody’s home

if I’m ill he wouldn’t even want me

i’m charging for looks

he built his whole life off stacking green

so if the money dries up

I’m rolling on like the sea

cuz he know and I know…

what it’s gonna be

maybe we should shock each other

build something that goes deep

lock in step

but is any of it free?

you act like you in love

but baby you don’t even like me

i’m only with you

while you pollinating other bees

dead are the dreams of equality

i would pay for your love

if it were real

but it would be a waste of money

because a man doesn’t respect women that he can buy

and a women doesn’t see value in a man that don’t make change

we live in a broken system praying for change

wanting something different

but expecting for life to stay the same

so i cut off all the lose ends

and let Jesus reign

Love always, Esha
