Identity

You move even when your feet hurt

And your heart burns

When answers are few and far in-between

And your soul yearns

For something more than a warm body to lay next to

A lover than takes from your essence

But doesn’t appreciate you

That shows you one mask after another

So you pull at the loose strings

Hoping that at some point

The unraveling of their identity will lead to love

Only to realize that the person you find buried under the lies

Is shallow like a kiddie pool with 2 inches of water inside

And you feel exposed

Because now your day dreams offer you no place to hide

The ugly truth has arrived

And you come to the chilling realization

That in this relationship you always been alone

Now you prepare your home

One stone at a time

Love always, Esha <3
