Innocence Dies

Innocence Dies

I stood on the sidelines last time

For a bit of rest

To accommodate my breaking soul

As time inches closer to an ever-changing pendulum

I Pray for a quality of life

I have yet to experience

While pushing for a level of equity

That extends beyond skin color

I dig my hands into the forest sod

Traveled by my ancestors

And I will let my roots grow far and wide

While the world picks their side

I will expand my reach

To touch man’s soft inside

The pressure of the good fight is ongoing

It will last till the murder of innocence Dies

But even then… I will still stand

Love always, Ayesha ❤
