Loving You

Loving You

I didn’t think about love much

What is the role of a kiss?

For someone who considers isolation bliss

What is the purpose of a hug?

For someone unaccustomed to touch

I grew use to the anticipation of sex without passion

Desiring connections without compassion

Never thought of a relationship more old-fashioned

Until you stayed past the sun’s fist rays of light

Typically my bed-mates take a quick flight

Into the cold, ambiguous descent of night

But the warmth of your steady hands sung a new song to me

It made me think that maybe…

I don’t have to be alone after all

No more binging on anime and funny cat videos

Hoping that a friend or family member calls

Though I still enjoy the silence

And the peace of my solitude

I have new aspirations to latch onto

Different restaurants to visit with food so delicious

You’re thrown into a celebratory mood

While enjoying the feel of a playful breeze

Blowing by in the afternoon

That’s the unexpected beauty of loving you

Love always, Esha <3
